Significant Finds

The McAbee Fossil Beds are easily accessed off the Trans Canada Hwy 13 kms East of Cache Creek.

From Vancouver: Depart Vancouver via the #1 Trans Canada Hwy to Hope (approximately 2 hrs). From here you have two routes.

1. Via the Coquihalla Hwy: The #1 Trans Canada Hwy becomes the #5 Coquihalla Hwy at Hope. Continue along the #5 Hwy (toll hwy) for 2 hours to the junction of the Hwy #5 and Hwy #1. Head West approximately 50 kms on Hwy #1 towards Cache Creek. McAbee Fossil Beds will be on the right side of the road. Watch for signs.

2. Via the Trans Canada Hwy #1: Exit at Hope exit 170 with the sign "Gateway to Holidayland. Welcome to Hope." Follow the signs through Hope town centre to continue along Hwy #1. Drive the scenic Fraser River Canyon to Cache Creek (approximately 2 hrs). Head East at Cache Creek to continue along the #1 Hwy. Approximately 13 kms from Cache Creek you will find the McAbee Fossil Beds on the left side of the road. Watch for signs.

From Kelowna: Depart Kelowna and head North-West along the Hwy #97. At the junction of Hwy #97 and Hwy #1, head West through Kamloops. Keep on the Hwy #1. The McAbee Fossil Beds are approximately 65 kms West of Kamloops on the #1 Hwy.
